This year we decided to head up to New England to have an early Christmas with both of our families. We split the vacation into 2 days with each family. Each side also had a Christmas party were we all exchanged presents which Olivia loved (and Mad loved eating the wrapping paper!) Our flight up wasn't bad with the girls, and Olivia is so used to flying that she is a pro going through the airport. As we were de-boarding the plane the pilot gave Liv a flying "wing" pin which she loved and I had to promptly take away because it was a pin (he may be able to fly a pin but for the love of god don't give a 2 year old a sharp object!) We also got a few compliments from people sitting near us on the flight about how good the girls were so we were all in a pretty good mood! We stayed at Stephen's brother's Scott and his family's house for the first 2 days. Olivia had a blast playing with the cousins and seeing all of the family!Saturday morning we headed over to Stephen's grandparents Billy and Barbara and his aunts stopped by too. In true Cape Cod style one of their neighbor's brought over a fresh lobstah he had caught and the kids were so excited and also a bit scared! Steve's aunts and Grandma also set up a tea-party for the girls (after lots of begging) and had lots of goodies with their "tea". Jake the dog was great with the girls and had easily 20+ treats while we were there!

We headed around town and Steve showed us (for the millionth time) his old house, the post office and the ocean which was about 1/8th of a mile from his house growing up, so jealous!! Yaya and Papa came over and the girls loved seeing them and playing with their other cousins Pey, Matt, and Samantha. After lot's of gifts we played a few rounds of the video game, "so you think you can dance," which of course we were horrible at but Lulu is going to be the next American idol, she can dance, sing, and look good doing it!!

We stayed at my Mom's for the last 2 days of the vacation which was also too short (next time we are staying at least a week). Both girls had colds the entire time we were there which made for not so pleasant kid's when combined with the lack of sleep they were getting. We had a nice small little party at my Mum's and had a great meal cooked by Papa Moe.

Olivia had lots of fun playing with Grammy's jewelry and Maddie loved playing peek-a-boo with Grampy! On our last day we were all exhausted and just were pretty low key. Behind my Mother's house is a pond and cranberry bog so we walked down and fed the ducks which Olivia names each duck, "Mommy duck, Daddy duck, baby duck"....and repeat 100 more times. We visited Grammy and Grampy before we headed back and Boo boo the cat was brave and came and let Liv touch (her/him?). Boo boo got his fur blown out by a Barbie blow-dryer, curled and brushed. Maddie slept most of the time there, which of course Liv loved having all the attention :) Although it was a short visit and we weren't able to visit with any of our friends :( we were very grateful that we were able to visit around the holiday season. It does make it a little bit easier being down here and I'm hoping to continue our early Christmas each year on Cape Cod! |
