Walking with our Cat!

Yesterday afternoon while Steve was watching football with Maddie, Liv and I decided to talk her doll and the dogs for a walk since it was beautiful out.  I have told a few family members about one of our cat's Lilly who whenever we go for walks, follows us the entire way :) Our neighbor Nicole lives about 10 houses away and Lilly will  walk down with us, wait for us in there yard until we come back out and then walk home with us!  Olivia the entire time yells at Lilly things like "Lilly get out of there yard now!," or "Lilly I said walk on the side of the road or we are going home!" Not sure where she has heard these things before haha!!! I really think Lilly has some identity issues, much like Manny thinks hes a cat (I'll tell you about him in another blog soon) anyways I grabbed my phone and took a few pictures of our walk so all of you cat lover's could see how cute it is :)
At the start of the walk Lilly is always ahead of us to make sure we follow her!

The next NHL star!!

So we signed Olivia up for skating lessons that start next week so we thought we should bring her at least once before she starts :) We headed over to one of the two ice rinks in the whole state for a little ice time this morning! Olivia was very excited and could not wait to step on the ice, and I think Steve was just as excited as she was! Steve did a few laps around the ice as I was screaming at him to slow down, which of course Liv loved going fast with him! I then put some skates on and took Liv out for a few laps while Steve stayed with the baby.  We practiced falling down, attempting to get up, and holding onto the side boards. By the end of the session Liv was able to take around 5 "steps" by herself!!

Mimi's visit!

My Mom (Mimi) came down right before my birthday for a visit with the girls. We had not seen her since our vacation this summer so we were long overdue! Olivia was so excited and Maddie smiled a big gummy smile as soon as she saw her :) We had great weather and were able to do a few fun things! Our first day we headed to the local farm to pick pumpkins, feed the farm animals and be outside in the sun!! The next day we tried to do what we do best..shopping...however the kids had a different idea! We headed to the playground and just vegged on my Mom's last day. Mimi and Liv made a nice birthday cake and we had some great steak that the hubster made. Olivia was very excited to sing the birthday song it was adorable! It always goes by way too quick!

Maddie the big girl!!!

Here are a few pictures of Maddie sitting up and Liv playing with her:) I cannot believe she is 6 months old already and sitting up on her own!

Adventure's at the Vet's!

Manny was limping around for a day so I decided to bring him the the vet's.  Steve was still away for his work trip so it was me and the kid's....alone.... Anyways as the day went on Manny couldn't even walk so I was trying to figure out how the hell I was going to get him into the vet's since I had 2 kids, Maddies car seat and a diaper bag to already carrying in.....and then I thought of .........the DOUBLE stroller!! Finally it was going to come in handy! Olivia was very concerned throughout the day and instisted on playing doctor to Manny.  After a few bandaids ended up on Manny I had too hide the doctor kit to Manny's benefit :) Anways back to the double stroller, I felt like a complete idiot walking in with Maddie and Manny in the stroller and Olivia walking.  After spending over an hour in a 3 by 3 office with 2 kids, and a dog, Manny has a few broken toes, and pain med's for a month.

My aha moment at the DMV...

So anyone who watched Oprah knows the significance of an aha moment...the Internets definition is, "It's a moment of clarity, a defining moment where you gain real wisdom - wisdom you can use to change your life."  I happened to have mine today, of all places at the dmv when I was getting my new Tn license...
Steve left early yesterday morning for a business trip until Thursday so I was alone with the girls for the week.  Last night Olivia woke numerous times, and around 3:30 ended up waking Maddie so I had to feed her to get her to go back to sleep.  In total I was up 6 times between 10-6am, so you can imagine how tired I was.  We were running late this morning to drop Liv off at school, and I forgot her lunch box so we had to turn around making us even later.  Fast forwards to 3 hours later when I am sitting waiting for my number to be called. As I was swearing under my breath about how they need to hire more people and where the heck our the tax dollars going, a young couple sat down next to me.  I of course love to talk to any adult since the majority of my days are spent with a 6 month old who babbles, and a 2 year old.  We started talking about Maddie ( who of course was going #2...stinking up the entire place......seriously!!) when I told them we had moved down from New England and was finally getting around to becoming a resident. I then asked them why they were there and it turns our someone had stolen the man's identity and he was trying to get a new ID.  As his number was called before mine, his girlfriend started chatting with me while he was at the counter.  Turns out that not only had his identity been stolen, but his bank account was wiped out also!  I sat there telling her he was in a surprising good mood for all of this happening and THEN she says the WORST part, that he had lost his mom last year to cancer,  and ever since then he had a new outlook on life.  I sat there stunned in silence mumbling the usual stuff your supposed to say, when all I could think about was here I am complaining about my lack of sleep and rushed morning when in fact this is NOTHING compared to what matters in life.  As my number was called we waved good-bye and I couldn't stop thinking about the young man and how he had chosen to look at the positive side in the situation.  I admit that I have a GREAT life, I have a husband who loves me and the kids, who works hard to support us and let me stay home and raise them.  We have close family and friends who we see often, and we have two healthy girls that we are raising very comfortably....  So from this moment on, I will be looking at the positive things in life, no more complaining about minuscule issues, the glass is half full for me:)  I urge all of my readers to do the same and I have a feeling it is going to make everyone a little bit nicer to each other!!

Ballet Pictures

Here are just a few pictures that I wanted to share of Liv at Ballet this week!

Disney on Ice!

During Liv's fall break we headed to see Disney on Ice.  I wasn't sure if Olivia would be old enough to sit still but we were so surprised! She sat in complete silence and awe and refused to talk to anyone the entire show!! Her eyes were glued to the entire show and it was adorable.  Our friend Caroline was also able to come and the girls had a blast together!  She loved the princess's skating, the toy story number, and the small world  song!  I also enjoyed the show and Steve did too! We will definitely be going again next year :)

Memphis part 2

So we headed to the Memphis zoo before we headed back to Nashville, since it was so close!  The zoo was one of the best zoo's we have ever been to!! They had so many different animals that I think we loved reading about as much as Liv did!  I always think the zoo is a great learning tool without actually being in a classroom.  We work on the names of different animals, their colors, what they eat and the sounds they make. Olivia loves to see all the different tiger's and they had a great section on Panda's!  There was also a kiddie-ride section that we weren't sure if Liv would want to go on, of course she wanted to go on every ride with no fear!!!  The first couple of pictures are of us in Arkansas, as we took a quick detour since we were about 10 minutes from the border.  We also got to see the Mississippi river which was a first for the girls and I! (Steve said we were the Griswold's since I made him pull over to take a picture in Arkansas!!)

We were in the middle of nowhere...in the great state of Arkansas!

had to get the thumbs up!

Missippi River!!
