Kangarooos!

Recently the Nashville Zoo opened a new exhibit about Kangaroos. You are able to walk through and actually touch/interact with the kangaroos at their discretion.  Since we have the yearly pass we thought it was a great way to spend a weekend afternoon. We had lot's of fun, Maddie ate a snow cone bigger than her, which I gave to her at the beginning of the trip so of course she was covered in sticky sugar the rest of the trip! The kids loved the Kangaroos, Maddie has no fear and I was afraid a Kangaroo would just pick her up, put it in its pouch and jump away!  We took a picture with the a kangaroo behind us and I literally had to put Maddie in a tight grip because she wanted to pet it! We hit up our favorites, the flamingos, birds, turtles, and goats. The goat we were petting ate our zoo map, and as I grabbed it back I was terrified I was going to get bit!  A fun day at the zoo and a great new exhibit to our favorite zoo!

Another year of Soccer for Olivia!

Olivia is now in her 3rd year of soccer, and she is one of the best on the team! She the smallest and shortest on the team but is one of the fastest runners and very aggressive on the team. Between myself and my husband we have both played almost every sport EXCEPT soccer, so we have had to do some research and look up rules and how to play. Of course Steve went out and bough Liv a full size soccer net, the best gear and ball to practice. It's still close to 100 degrees here so we have to make sure she is fully hydrated and doesn't get heat stroke. Although Maddie seems to be the one who doesn't do well in the heat. Steve will come straight from the office in a suit and sit to watch Liv practice for an hour while Maddie cries and complains of heat:{ Regardless the coach came up to us last week and asked us if Liv would be interested in playing in a year above her age, we said no due to the fact that she is already doing ballet 2 hours per week and on the competition team in addition to soccer....Mia Hamm watch out!

The best day of all summer finally came, Olivia went back to school! Downside is that that Hurricane Maddie can be a bit destructive until her sister gets home! We put Liv in a new pre-k that is close to our new house. She has already made a few friends, and gotten in trouble for talking ( big shocker). I ALMOST got a bit teary eyed then flash backed to the last 4 months and quickly pulled myself together :) Once I picked her up she had a WONDERFUL day, talking non stop about the class, what happens if they get in trouble ( their name gets taken out of a beehive on the wall...gasp!) and all the fun actives they will do this year. It's great for Liv socially, academically, and her own identify to be prepared for full day kindergarten next year.
