Note to self: next time the girls politely ask if they can have their own mini carts at the grocery store, scream "NO," and have flashbacks of this day shopping. It started out calmly enough, heading to the store around 8 am along with ever other elderly shopper, but due to the nap schedule and ballet later this was the only time free today. The girls were so excited there were two mini carts (which never happens) so I (stupidly) said sure, picture a calm shopping experience- not the usual run through isle and get everything as soon as possible before a child breaks/throws tantrum/climbs shelves etc..... Olivia has had her own cart before and does wonderful, she loves to help, pick out items and feel like a big girl. Maddie, I assumed would copy Liv...boy was I WRONG. We started out in the fruit isle with Maddie immediately ramming into orangesdislay that of course all came down. I with the help of a lovely worker we cleaned them up, while Maddie belted out the "clean up song". After a quick lesson on how to push I assumed Maddie would get the hang of it...again WRONG. Maddie threw every candy/toy/cookie/random item she could while I quickly put them back...did I mention we were still in the FIRST isle. The rest of the trip went something like this, Maddie looking down ramming into Olivia, shelves, and a construction worker. When I told her to look up, she looked at the ceiling, she'd get caught on a corner and immediately it was the end of the world. I'm not big on bribing my kids, but for the sake of the store's and myself's sanity, Oreo's were opened and eaten at 8:15 in the morning.
