Neighborhood Pool Day

With the temperature hitting close to 100 degrees we are keeping cool before we head up North. We headed over to our friends Liz's pool and spent the day keeping cool. Olivia is a great swimmer now with no floaties needed at all. Maddie is also learning to go under and blow bubbles ( aka not slowing enough pool water to make her throw it up...true story.) A few of the neighborhood kids always stop by and all the kids get along great! Here's our pictures from a fun pool day :)

Adventure Science Center fun!

On a cloudy Sunday we headed to the Nashville Science Museum with Uncle Keef ( what the girls call him) and Aunt Ali.  I am not sure who had more fun, the guys or the kids. The museum has a variety of different exhibits, from a medical section which shows the different parts of the body and things to do, like take blood pressure and look at x-rays. At least one of the girls will go to medical school because they are both so into science and the health care ( yikes! better start saving!!!) They had an exhausting time climbing a section of the museum where you climb 3 stories up to the top and you get a great view of the city. I did it with both girls and it was a bit scary....we took a tube slide down after we climbed to the top and going down a narrow slide with a 2 and 4 year old is a bit nerve racking for all of us!!!  We went to the planetarium, which I left a bit early when Maddie started singing loudly the song to Dora (........ok and honestly I felt sick to my stomach, the spinning sky killed me!) We had a great day and both girls had a great time, ( and so did Keef and Steve!).

Playdate!

We headed over to our friends Roth and Hutton's house for a fun play date! The kids loved making tents, doing an obstacle course, and swimming in the kiddie pool:) Their dog Piper is the sweetest dog and Maddie loved giving him kisses. The kids played for about three hours straight and did not stop once! They had a blast making a tent, Maddie loved crawling through the tunnel ( and getting stuck in it).   We played a favorite game of guessing what animal the kids are acting out, and having a snack in the shade. Another fun play date in the hot Tn summer:)

Swim Lessons with the Swim Nazi!

Liv swimming!
After taking wo separate lessons through our local Y, I was happy it had acquatened Liv to the water but was not happy with the level she was progressing. There is a local swim teach in town nicknamed the swim nazi, she is very firm but teaches kids at an unbelievable pace with strict rules and parents are not allowed to be in pool area. It's on a beautiful farm with cows and horses so while Olivia took her lesson we would walk around and look at all the animals on the farm. Only in Tn will you take swim lessons on a farm! Olivia was one of the smallest kids in class however she passed to level 3 today at the final class that parents were able to attend. I am so proud of her and cannot believe she can now swim without any assistance over her head, jump in, swim the width of the pool underwater etc. Maddie will be signing up next year for it and cannot wait! It's perfect timing because we leave for a few weeks at the beach and my grandparents pool so I am a stickler for kids being able to swim (perhaps because I used to be a lifeguard)
